幾年前，在第一次訪問馬庫路（香蕉）瀑布之後，我向大武村的村民詢問該瀑布的名字。他們告訴我，瀑布沒有名字，也不想為其命名。這對我而言是個問題，因為在我的地圖系統中，每個欄位都必須填上內容。我的網站上有一個「地名」的欄位，而它無法留空。因此，我請朋友來幫助我填空。他們非常認真，在經過深思熟慮，從黑熊和雲豹的原住民寓言故事中獲取靈感：「馬庫路瀑布」。 [https://futureparenting.cwgv.com.tw/family/content/index/4337

而在將這瀑布發佈在我的網站後，一些評論提到「當地孩童稱其為香蕉瀑布」因此我也將該名稱添加到了我的網站中。該網站顯示了全台灣的瀑布地圖；它的使命是讓任何人都能接觸到這些瀑布，並讓大家更容易親近自然。所以，儘管在成立此網站五年後，用戶量很高，我仍然沒有放任何的廣告，因為那不是我網站的重點。對我而言，這並非營利事業。這些地圖可供所有人免費使用。這也是為什麼，當我看到該瀑布商業化的新法規上，出現了我網站上所發布的名稱時，不禁感到萬分驚訝：這代表著，這個區域不再只是一個隨便外國部落格上的「馬庫路瀑布」了，因為在台灣法條中也是「馬庫路瀑布」。如今看來格外諷刺：我選擇與所有人共享的瀑布名字，也同時出現在將我阻擋在該瀑布外的法條裡。這使我不禁多想：如果我當初沒有發布該地點的訊息，今天是否還會有這些商業觀光團的出現呢？

After visiting Makulu (banana) waterfall for the first time several years ago I asked some villagers in Dawu Village for the name of the waterfall. They both told me that the waterfall had no name, and didn't want to offer a new name for it. That presented a problem for me, because in my mapping system each location has to have a it's own name. There is a "place name" entry field on my website and I can't leave it blank. So I asked a friend to help me fill in that space. They took it very seriously, and after much deliberation came back with "Makulu", from the fable of the black bear and the clouded leopard.

Later after publishing this waterfall, some commenters mentioned that "the local kids call it Banana Waterfall" so I also added that name to my website. This website shows maps of waterfalls all over Taiwan with the express mission of making them more accessible to all people, and bringing everyone closer to nature. Despite the high number of users on this site, there are still no ads posted there, even after 5 years, because that isn't the point of my website. It's not a commercial venture. These maps are free for everyone to use. That's why it came as some surprise to me that the new regulation for commercializing this waterfall used the same name that was first published on my website. This area isn't just "makulu waterfall" on some random foreigners blog anymore. It's now also "makulu waterfall" in Taiwanese law. How ironic that the name I choose to share it with everyone is also the name that's used to keep me out. Would selling tours there still be an option if I hadn't published it?
